No time to exercise? I beg to differ!

One of the most common excuses I hear for not being able to exercise is not having time. Now I know modern life can leave us feeling like this – what with working, cooking, being a parent or carer and running a home, time can sometimes be limited for other things. However, we all have the same 24 hours in each day and it’s what you decide to do with those hours that might make the difference between you and the next person who seems to have time to be ‘always working out’.

With just a little bit of organisation you can make time to build an exercise regime to fit in to your lifestyle. You don’t need to join a gym, and you don’t have to spend hours at a time pounding the cardio machines and then not getting results. In fact, if you do the right type of exercise, you can achieve results in just 15 minutes a day (and this can be equivalent to spending around an hour in the gym), with exercises that can be done at home. Just think where you might get that 15 minutes from – how long do you spend watching TV in the evenings? Or surfing the internet, or wasting time on facebook?? I believe that EVERYONE can find 15 minutes in their day to fit in some exercise.

So, look at your day, look at what you are doing and where you could gain that time from. If you are really struggling, then feel free to drop me a line and I’ll help you. I can also give you some pointers for the right kind of exercise to do.

As well the online bootcamp, I will have a brand new range of online workouts coming soon too – The Toned in Ten range. Ten days with 10 minutes a day to get AMAZING results! So keep watching this space.

See you all soon!

Alice Ramcharran
www.pyramidfitness.co.uk
www.thebootcampcookbook.com
Add me as a friend on facebook - www.facebook.com/alice.ramcharran
Follow me on Facebook - www.facebook.com/PyramidHealthandFitness
Follow me on twitter – www.twitter.com/Pyramidfit

Alice's pregnancy blog part 2

Well it’s been a few weeks since I did my first post, so thought I’d update at week 24 with a short note and new picture!

This pic was taken just before heading out to our 2011 Pyramid Health and Fitness Ltd Christmas party. Bump is appearing and everything else is too!!!

The evening was great fun, and I managed to last the night without drinking and some dancing too, although must say my feet are now getting crippled when I wear my high heels!!!!

Been feeling great over the past few weeks, managing to do a lot of walking, some gym visits although no swimming due to itchy scabby rash – not a good look!!! so back in to that in the New Year while I still can!!! As i’ve been told come 3rd trimester the 1st trimester symptoms may hit me again and then some!

Last class is 21 December and although will miss it, looking forward to a break over Christmas, to have a few days off and just relax! and it’s been nice this week actually having a lie in – 8.30am for the past 3 days, unheard of for me, even at the weekends, so guessing must need my sleep!!!!

I shall post again in a few weeks time, when I’m sure there’ll be even more of a change!

Jo's Bootcamp blog ... the final instalment!

16 October (Day 28)

So this is it. Bootcamp is over and I have lost 13lbs in weight and 10 inches – 3” from both bust and hips and 4” from waist!

I am amazed! Not just at my results (am sure it could have been a stone if I’d resisted those jelly beans!) but also at how much I have enjoyed the past month. At the beginning of Bootcamp I was really concerned that I would a) hate it, b) not be able to do it, or c) want to give up half way through, but none of that has happened – quite the reverse actually.

So, what’s next you may ask? Well, I’ve just signed for the next month and have set myself a goal of losing a stone and a half by the end of November. Will then buy myself a gorgeous dress for Christmas.

I can really recommend it. If you are looking for a kick start to losing weight and getting fit then I don’t think you can beat Bootcamp. Why don’t you come along and try it for yourself? You can sign up at www.buckinghamshirebootcamp.com. Go on … do it!!!!

Jo’s Top Tips for Surviving Bootcamp

Over the past month, I have come up with a few ways of getting through the diet.

The first is that I use Green Tea as my crutch – if I have to do anything in the kitchen and there is likely to be something naughty to pick, I make myself a Green Tea. If I’m giving the kids their dinner, I keep a mug of tea firmly at hand and in the evening, if I’m feeling peckish and I’ve eaten all my allotted food, I’ll have a Green Tea. Lifesaver!

Another tip is that I keep sandwich bags and Tupperware on hand for any leftover food. I worked out quite quickly that waste is an issue for me. Before Bootcamp, I would eat up the leftovers so that I didn’t have to throw them away. Now I put them in a sandwich bag or Tupperware and put them in the fridge to either give to someone later or to throw away the following day – which seems easier!

Other than that… it’s just willpower … and the memory of that HIDEOUS ‘before’ photo that have seen me through.

GOOD LUCK!

Jo's Bootcamp blog ... day 27

15 October (Day 27)

Exercise: Zumba; Diet: back on track

Feel guilty about the jelly bean affair … so have made a decision to be super good for the next two days to absolve my sins and get the best results I can! Went in the front row at Zumba and worked hard. Smiling muscles definitely got a good work out!

Went out for lunch with the family and had a jacket potato with the tiniest bit of butter (am taking this absolution seriously!) and then made a gorgeous stir-fry for dinner. Final measurements tomorrow … yikes!

Jo's Bootcamp blog ... day 26

14 October (Day 26)

Exercise: am: Fitness Pilates; pm: Masala Bhangra; Diet: uh-oh … naughty cheats today!

Now that Bootcamp sessions are over, feel I need to find something else to try. Went to Fitness Pilates and gave my muscles an intensive workout! It was tough – and shows how important it is to do a variety of different classes. I might be getting stronger at Bootcamp, but in the world of Fitness Pilates I am a definite beginner! Really enjoyed it though so will be back for more.

In the evening went to the Masala Bhangra and Bollywood themed evening that Alice was hosting in High Wycombe. Masala Bhangra is great fun but is an intensive workout too. Three quarters of the way through the session, I suddenly felt that I might have overdone the exercise and had to head home for a lie down!

At home, the kids had left some uneaten jelly beans in a bowl … it was a weak moment … but before I knew it, I’d had one, then two, then three – and the sugar felt GOOD!

13 October (Day 25 / Bootcamp session #12)

Exercise: Last Bootcamp Session of the month (feel a bit sad); Diet: being very good

So, the final Bootcamp Session of the month has been and gone. Can’t quite believe it is over. That first week (and all the pain) seems like a distant memory and I feel SO much better – not just the fact that my body is fitter and more toned, but also in myself, I feel like I have much more energy, my skin looks better and I just feel healthy. Have really enjoyed my time at Bootcamp and believe me, if I’ve enjoyed it, you will too – so come on, what are you waiting for, there’s a Taster Week next week … why not come along and give it a try?

12 October (Day 24)

Exercise: 1 Bootcamp Session (tough); Diet: felt inspired to cook

It was a challenge at Bootcamp today. Felt I had no energy and put it down to a) not having a banana with my cereal this morning, b) having a late night, c) coming down with the cold that seems to be doing the rounds or d) all of the above. Got home feeling decidedly weak – but rather than reaching for the biscuit tin, I had some nuts, made a Green Tea and then grilled myself a chicken breast which I had with some steamed veg … not entirely conventional at 11.00am but made me feel loads better. Even popped a rice pudding in the oven for dessert – Nigella eat your heart out!

10 October (Day 22)

Exercise: 1 Bootcamp Session (v.g.); Diet: a challenge today!

Great Bootcamp session this morning; more of my fellow Bootcampers commented on the positive change to my body – stomach area in particular – so am feeling very pleased! Picked kids up from school and they uttered words that struck fear into my heart – “Mummy, pleeeeeease can you bake some brownies?” Have been promising for weeks and felt that I couldn’t put it off any longer so embarked on my greatest challenge yet … not just the baking of the brownies, but the knowledge that they are in the house… have resisted so far … but can’t promise I’ll last the night!

9 October (Day 21)

Three weeks completed and it’s MEASUREMENT DAY again. Have lost another 4lbs this week making 12lbs in total! Can’t believe it! Have also lost another inch off my waist and bust and amazingly seem to have lost an inch and a half off my hips! Am feeling very proud of myself. Went out for brunch with friends which was a bit of a struggle – their full English breakfasts did look very tasty but I was happy with my fruit salad and of course the obligatory Green Tea!

6 October (Day 18)

Exercise: last Bootcamp session of the week (v.g.); Diet: v.v.g.

Rather a lot of jogging at today’s Bootcamp but amazingly managed to keep up! Running not my strong point! Had Hallelujah moment this morning – my son climbed into bed for a cuddle and said “What’s that mummy?”, with trepidation I said “What?” and he said “It’s hard” while pointing at my ribs!! Woo hoo; I have ribs … that you can feel!! HALLELUJAH! Shall now be spending rather a lot of time lying down admiring my newly found bone structure!

5 October (Day 17)

Exercise: 1 Bootcamp session; Diet: it’s almost starting to feel normal

Great Bootcamp session today – can’t believe I am saying it but I actually ‘kind-of’ enjoy it. Two good things happened when I got home: 1) Next had delivered some jeans that I had ordered. They are called Lift & Shape and “use clever seaming to uplift your bottom instantly” … sounded good to me! Ordered a pair in a size 16 but … they are TOO BIG! Am not sure if it’s the style or my new svelte waistline but they were definitely gaping around the top! And 2) Can now get on my old jeans that haven’t fitted me for quite a while … and they are comfortable … and there isn’t too much waistband overhang! Oh yes… things are certainly looking up!!

3 October (Day 15)

Exercise: 1 Bootcamp session; Diet: hardly any time to eat!

Busy day today. Bootcamp was good and definitely feel like the exercises are getting easier and less painful – except for The Plank – not sure I’ll ever get the hang of that! ! Alice sent an email saying we could have a cheat meal this week – Decided not to cheat too much, but did succumb to a tiny sprinkling of Parmesan on my Ratatouille… it felt naughty, but was very nice!
